Mr. Buhler holds extensive medical imaging and business leadership expertise stemming from a 31-year career with Natus Medical Inc., SenoRx Inc., Ultrasonix, GE Healthcare and Diasonics-VingMed Ultrasound. Mr. Buhler has a proven track record of building and leading successful business teams that consistently achieve strong financial performance, operational efficiency and customer loyalty.
Mr. Buhler most recently served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Natus Medical Incorporated, a publicly traded medical device manufacturer focused on Neurology and Newborn Care. Mr. Buhler helped Natus grow its revenue and infrastructure from $219M to $362M in his 2.5 years with the company. Prior to Natus, Mr. Buhler was President & CEO of SenoRx, Inc. a publicly traded medical device manufacturer focused on the Breast Care market. Mr. Buhler completed the sale of SenoRx, Inc. in July 2010 to C.R. Bard at a 41% premium over the stock price during the 90 days prior to the proposed transaction.
From August 2005 to May 2008, Mr. Buhler served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Ultrasonix Medical Corporation, a privately held manufacturer of high-quality diagnostic ultrasound imaging equipment. Mr. Buhler led the growth of this early stage start-up company to $30M in annual worldwide sales in 26 months.
From 1998 to 2005, Mr. Buhler held various graduating positions at General Electric's Healthcare division, a global GE division focused on high-growth ultrasound markets and other compact technologies, last serving as Vice President and General Manager of GE's Clinical Performance Technologies Division based in Shanghai, China.
Prior to 1998, Mr. Buhler held various positions with Diasonics Inc., a global medical imaging device manufacturer, last serving as Vice President of Operations. Mr. Buhler earned his B.S. in Business Administration and Human Resources at Dominican College, Blauvelt, New York, and completed the General Electric Executive Management Development Program. Mr. Buhler also holds a Electronics Technology degree from SUNY Orange.
William BlairCo-Founder and Chief Technology Officer
Bill Blair co-founded RF Surgical Systems in 2005 and has served as the company's Chief Technology Officer since its inception. An electrical engineer by training, Mr. Blair has also held technology management and leadership roles with Bell Atlantic as well as several other innovative technology start-up ventures. Among these are Telepad and Advanced Modular which pioneered early tablet computing, CBM to develop peer to peer private internet pipes, Advanced Modular Solutions which focused on small form factor clients and Firetalk which focused on VOIP and SS7 signaling.
Mr. Blair has patents in tablet computing, telecommunications, and medical applications for communication systems. A passionate patient safety advocate, Mr. Blair utilizes his talents to create innovative technologies to advance the emerging digital patient safety industry. Mr. Blair holds a B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics with Minor in Economics from Case Western Reserve's University.
Ron WangerinChief Financial Officer
Ron Wangerin joined RF Surgical Systems in May 2014 as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Wangerin has over 25 years of diverse financial experience including 10 years as CFO of publicly traded telecommunications company ViaSat, Inc. Prior to joining ViaSat, Mr. Wangerin spent two years as CFO with wireless data collection provider NexusData as well as three years as CFO with Hughes/Raytheon Training LLC, a subsidiary of Raytheon Company.
Mr. Wangerin also has nine years of public accounting experience, having served as a Senior Manager with Deloitte & Touche, LLP. Mr. Wangerin holds a B.A. as well as a Master's of Accounting Degree from the University of Southern California's Leventhal School of Accounting.
John BarnhillVice President of Marketing & Business Development
John M. Barnhill joined RF Surgical Systems in October 2013 as Vice President of Global Marketing & Business Development. Prior to joining RF Surgical, Mr. Barnhill held several management positions including Global Marketing, Clinical Marketing and Professional Education at Edwards Lifesciences Corporation, a publicly traded medical device company.
Prior to joining Edwards Lifesciences, Mr. Barnhill served as Global Marketing Manager, Therapeutics with SenoRx, a private medical device company, which was acquired by CR Bard. Prior to that, Mr. Barnhill spent 7 years at Edwards Lifesciences, holding several positions of increasing responsibility in Product Management, New Product Development, Corporate Strategy and Business Development.
Mr. Barnhill holds a B.A. in Business Finance from the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business and an MBA from the University of California Irvine's Paul Merage School of Business.
Matt HeimVice President of Sales
Matt Heim joined RF Surgical Systems in January 2014 as Vice President of Global Sales. A dynamic medical sales professional, Mr. Heim brings over 15 years of sales and management experience including both team leadership of large organizations as well as individual contributor roles.
Prior to joining RF Surgical, Mr. Heim held the role of Area Vice President as well as several other sales and clinical leadership positions with Intuitive Surgical, a publicly traded medical device company. Prior to joining Intuitive Surgical, Mr. Heim spent over 6 years in various sales leadership roles of increasing responsibility with Mindray/Datascope. Mr. Heim holds a B.A. in International Business from Washington State University.
Matt DePieroVice President of Corporate Accounts
Matt DePiero, with over 20 years' experience in the medical device industry, joined RF Surgical Systems in October, 2008. He is the Vice President of Sales and Vice President of Corporate Accounts.
Prior to joining RF Surgical, Mr. DePiero held several positions in a successful technology start-up including Training, Business Development, Sales Management and Corporate Accounts with Enturia, a private medical device company which was eventually acquired by Cardinal Health.
Mr. DePiero holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Ashland University. Mr. DePiero continued his MBA studies at The Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.
